Exciting and rewarding professional opportunities exist in Botswana for well-qualified, motivated and disciplined CARICOM Secondary School Teachers. In return for focused and productive work, the Government of Botswana offers a three year initial renewable contract with competitive salaries. The salary ranges and essential qualifications are as follows: 1. Secondary School Teachers at Scale C2 requires a degree and a teaching qualification/diploma and at least 3 years experience. Salary in the range of approximately US$11,660 to US$14,045 per annum. 2. Non-qualified but experienced Teachers who have taught at the Secondary School Level for at least 5 years. * Those with a Degree in the teaching subject at Scale C3, the salary in the range of approximately US$9,540 to US $11,500 per annum. * Those with a Diploma in the teaching subject at Scale C4, the salary in the range of approximately US$7,500 to US$9,275 per annum. Actual salary offered depends on individual experience and exchange rate between Botswana Pula and US Dollar at the time of appointment. Salaries are payable in Botswana Pula. An end-of-contract gratuity of 25% (protected against exchange rate fluctuation from date of initial appointment), highly subsidized semi-furnished housing (furnished 3 bedroom house except stove and refrigerator rents for approximately US$75 per month), free medical attention for the appointed teacher and family, a motor car purchase scheme, free passages to and from Botswana. The local currency is easily convertible and savings and gratuities can be repatriated in US dollars or other hard currency without any restrictions. Comparatively low income tax rates exist. The cost of living is at least 30% lower than in the Caribbean and successful candidates can easily save a nice nest egg during their service in the country. The capital Gaborone possesses quality schools, churches, restaurants, modern and well equipped public and private hospitals, shopping centres, entertainment and cultural facilities without any of the pressures of a large metropolitan area.
