Located on the south-east coast of St Lucia, just 15 minutes' drive from the island's second-largest town of Vieux Fort with its international airport, shops, banks, schools and hospital, this part of the coastline is historically known as 'Canelles': French-Creole for 'cinnamon'.

The location is naturally a fairly dry and rocky environment, with gentle ridges and valleys giving way to impressive rocky headlands where the force of the Atlantic Ocean batters the tall cliffs and underwater rock formations, before rolling out onto the sandy coves and beaches that lie sheltered within. The southern end of Canelles Beach gives way to one of St Lucia's many small rivers, which lies embedded in a natural mangrove area of great beauty. The beach is unspoilt and wild, fringed with sea grape trees, wild almonds, coconuts and other lush green vegetation, as well driftwood, rocks and stones shaped by the force of the waves.

Whilst not a particularly good beach for swimming, this is a tremendous place to hike, fish, relax, hunt for crabs, or simply walk the family pet! Several other, long beaches lie just to the north of this headland, including a very pleasant, isolated swimming beach.

The lot measures 21,269 sq ft (about half an acre), and is flat to gently sloping, making it extremely easy to build on. The area is serviced with electricity, telecommunications, and mains water. The mains water line is scheduled to be improved in the near future to accommodate the (slowly but steadily) growing population of Canelles.

Although land in this particular beachfront location has been valued at US$11/sf and more, the current lot is on the market for a quick sale at less than US$7.50 per sq ft.
